INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup basmati or long-grain rice
2. 1 ½ cups water
METHOD
- Wash the rice under running cold water and drain. Put it into a medium-sized heavy-bottomed saucepan with the measured water and let it soak for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Bring it to a rapid boil over a medium heat, then reduce the heat so that the water is barely simmering. Cover the pan with a well-fitting lid that does not let out any steel and leave it to cook for about 15 minutes. It is important that you suppress any temptation to lift the lid to a peek during this time because the steam will escape, hindering the cooking process.
